Social Science Research Methods
Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), a research based think tank dedicated to extensive and in-depth research on current economic, social, and political issues has identified the gap between the theory and practice of research. CPPR believes in guiding young and energetic beginners doing research on how to do Research.
As part of this, CPPR is organizing a three day residential “CPPR Introductory course on Social Science Research Methods” from 23rd -25th May 2013 at Cochin, Kerala, India. Students pursuing their final year Graduation, Post Graduation/MPhil or PhD in social sciences or academicians, researchers in NGOs and journalists who have got the determination to do research for a better cause are wholeheartedly welcome. The course invites non academic researchers as CPPR believe’s in inculcating scientific temperament among the stake holders of any process.
The course deals with sessions based on Preface to research, attitude, values and beliefs of research, approaches and procedures of research, putting together the research problems/ articulation of research problem and Portraying the research problem. It will be a mixture of interactive and skill building sessions and group discussions.

The selection of candidates for admission to the P.G./Ph.D. programmes will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination only. The entrance examination will be of 2 hours duration.
The NET/JRF qualified candidate with fellowships will be given direct admission to Ph.D. programmes. The minimum cut of mark for general candidates in respect of Ph.D. admission shall be half of the average of the entrance examination marks scored by all the candidate in the respective subject. The minimum cut of mark for OBC/SC/ST/ Differently Abled candidates will be 10% below the cut of marks of the general category candidates.
Last date for the application: April 18th 2013

For Centre for Studies in Science Policy: Master's degree in Social Science or Humanities or Law or Management with 55% marks or Master's degree in Natural Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine with 60% marks. For Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health: Masters degree in social sciences or other disciplines allied to public health with 50% marks.
